Donald has two degrees in education from Radford University and a Master’s at Virginia Tech where he loves his Hokies. After nearly 15 years as a teacher in Virginia, Donald decided to move to the Upstate. He wanted to build a life in a new community as he transitioned into a career in real estate. Over the past decade, he has helped many families and individuals relocate to the Upstate, just as he and his family once did; sharing his love for the Upstate along the way.
Donald has been happily married to his wife, Nicole, for 20 years. Nicole, also a proud Virginia Tech Hokie, works at GE, and together, they have created a loving and supportive family. They have two children—Ellie, who attends Woodmont High School, and Grant, a student at Langston Charter School. The Barbour family also shares their home with Winston, a West Highland Terrier.
Outside of his professional life, Donald is deeply committed to his community. He actively supports small businesses by promoting them on social media and through creating popular Facebook groups such as Food Trucks of Greenville, Greenville Bourbon and Whiskey Society, and Greenville Backyard BBQ Club. These groups help locals connect, discover new favorites, and support the small businesses that make Greenville unique. Donald is also a local member of the Saint Andrew's Society and sponsors the Greenville Scottish Games.
Donald is dedicated to giving back to important causes in the area. He is a passionate supporter of the Greenville Shriners Hospital for Children where his daughter has been a patient and received care, Tri My Best GVL, and participates in fundraising activities for local events like Relay for Life. He also supports the Mosaic Ministry through Grace Church where his family attends.
